Dehradun: The day began with rain in Uttarakhand on Tuesday. Most of the areas including the capital Dehradun started raining early in the morning. The MET department has issued a warning of heavy rain for the next four days in all districts including Dehradun. Heavy rain is expected in Dehradun, Nainital, Champawat as well as hilly areas. The same is expected to dazzle and rain with thunder at some places.
The rain will continue for the next four days till September 17. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Nainital, Champawat, Bageshwar, and Pauri on Tuesday. In Dehradun, the sky will be partly cloudy. Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thundering is expected. It was cloudy in Dehradun on Monday morning. Heavy rain also lashed several areas in the afternoon and evening. This also led to waterlogging at many places and the people facing problems.
Normal life has been disrupted due to the highest overnight rainfall in Yamuna valley including Yamunotri Dham. At the same time, river drains are also overflowing. The Yamunotri Highway has been closed at several places due to debris. At the same time, Gangotri Highway is also closed due to stone and debris near Sukhi Top. In Uttarkashi, 11 rural connectivity motorways are disrupted for traffic. After the rains on the Yamunotri Highway, the Jharjargad drain suddenly came to a cessation. Due to this, school students going to Inter College from the Yamunotri area were also stuck on the way. Students and locals are waiting for the flow to subside and the highway to open.
