Dehradun: Rain continues in Uttarakhand. The state received rain from mountain to plain late on Monday night. After the rains, people got relief from the humidity. Mussoorie is also foggy after rain. Nainital, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh are likely to receive the highest rainfall with heavy rain in the next 24 hours. A yellow alert has also been issued by the MET department in view of the possibility of heavy rainfall in these districts.

According to a report released by the same Meteorological Department, lightning accompanied by thundershowers has also been predicted at isolated places in hilly districts of the state. As far as the capital Dehradun is concerned, light to moderate rainfall is expected in the next 24 hours in the capital Dehradun. In Rishikesh, part of the alternative route being constructed at Ranipokhari was washed away at around 4 am after heavy rains late in the night. Recently, the route was constructed towards Jolly Grant Airport for easy movement after the collapse of the motor bridge over the Jakhan river.

In the Chamoli district, heavy rain started late on Monday night and stopped at around 8 am. Badrinath Highway was blocked at several places due to rain. The highway is closed due to debris in Mad Nala, Chamdhar, Sirohbagad, Narkota, and Shivanandi. Meanwhile, the Yamuna valley including Yamunotri Dham is cloudy. The movement on the footpath of Yamunotri Highway is getting risky. Rishikesh Gangotri Highway was also closed for half an hour near Hindolakhal in the morning. With this, about 126 roads are closed in the State.
