Dehradun: The Rudraprayag-Gaurikund highway in Uttarakhand is blocked for the fifth day at Vidyadham. Due to continuous landfall here, there is also problem in rectification work. From Rudraprayag to Kedarnath, the sky is thick, rain is expected. Rudraprayag-Gaurikund Kund-Ukhimath-Chopta-Gopeshwar is also closed.
Also, the Badrinath highway is blocked at Lambagad from Thursday. At Pithoragarh, rainfall has been continuing for more than 24 hours. Rudrapur has been raining continuously since late Thursday night. In the same Nainital city, two kilometers from the Brahma Bu temple on the Kaladhungi Kotabagh main road. The road has been blocked due to further felling of trees. Efforts are on to open the route. Most areas of the state including Lohaghat, Nainital and Ramnagar have been receiving intermittent rains since late night.
On the same Thursday, the efforts of NH and the working organization to open the highway in Vidyadham could not succeed. There is continuous landfall here, due to which the improvement work is not being started. On the other hand the situation is getting worse due to rain in the area. On the other hand, landslides have also threatened many houses in Maikhanda. Along with this, village head Chandni Devi, Amit Makhandi, Praveen etc. have sent a letter to Kedarnath MLA demanding treatment of the affected area as well as action against the executing organization. With this, the people of there faced many problems due to the blocking of the route.
