Dehradun: In nine cities of Uttarakhand, some areas may receive the highest rainfall today. There is also a possibility of heavy showers in most areas. In view of this, the Weather Department has issued a red alert.

According to a bulletin issued by the Weather Department, some areas in Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Chamoli, Nainital, Udhamsingh Nagar, Pauri, Tehri, Dehradun and Haridwar may receive heavy rainfall on Friday. On this, by issuing an advisory for the concerned cities, the administration has been asked to take necessary security measures. Instructions have also been given to control the movement of people in high altitude and hilly areas.

Heavy rains are followed by landslides and an increase in the water level of rivers. Weather Center Director Bikram Singh said that most places in the state could get maximum rainfall in the next two days. A 22-year-old man died after lightning fell in the village of Chadogi of Jaunpur development block in Mussoorie. Suraj Sajwan (22) son Kundan Sajwan went to monitor maize crop in the fields at night. Then the lightning fell and he died. Suraj used to work in Goa, but returned to the village during COVID-19 transition. Four days ago, another man has also died due to lightning in the village. With this, all the residents have been alerted.
