Vaginal yeast infections Also known as candidiasis os one of the common problem in women.The condition isn’t considered a sexually transmitted infection (STI), however, having sex with a yeast infection can be painful and carry some risks even if you’re not showing symptoms.

Yeast infections can share many of the same symptoms as some sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

The signs and symptoms of a vaginal yeast infection include -

Itching, burning, and irritation in the vagina and vulva

Pain during urination or sexual intercourse

Abnormal vaginal discharge

Vaginal rash

Redness

Vaginal pain and soreness

Sex while infection

Individuals are recommended to refrain from sexual activity until the infection has cleared up to minimise pain and itching. Moreover, having sex while undergoing treatment for a yeast infection can delay the healing process.

Treatment

Some mild yeast infections may get better with over-the-counter (OTC) remedies or without treatment. However, people should consult with a doctor, especially if they have a yeast infection for the first time, to ensure that they get the proper diagnosis and treatment.
