The chief priest of Maa Vaishno Devi, Amirchand, has passed away. He died of a heart attack at around 8:00 am on Saturday. According to the information received in this case, Amirchand Pujari got up at around 5:00 am according to his routine and while offering prayers in the morning, suddenly he feels a sharp pain in his chest. The family members then rushed him to Narayan Hospital of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board after seeing his serious condition.

After examination, the doctors declared him brought dead. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed deep grief as soon as he came to know about the demise as per the information received in the case. In fact, in his condolence message, he wrote, "The news of the passing away of Shri Amirchand ji, the head priest of Mata Vaishno Devi ji, is very sad. I pay my humble tributes to him. My deepest condolences to the bereaved family and their followers. Pray to God to give place to the holy soul at his feet.'' 85-year-old Amirchand Pujari had returned to his residence in Katra after performing the divine Aarti of Maa Vaishno Devi at the house of Maa Vaishno Devi three-four days ago.

Amirchand Pujari left behind his wife Kailashi Devi, son Lokesh Pujari, Naresh Pujari as well as the entire family. At present, as soon as the news of Amirchand ji's demise came, there is a wave of grief in Katra. The residents as well as the administrative officials reached their house and offered their condolences to the family. The last rites of Amirchand Pujari ji have been performed at the cremation ground of Katra at 4:00 pm on Saturday, but people are still remembering him.
