VANPIC project scam: AP CM Jagan Mohan ordered to appear before CBI-ED court

Hyderabad: The CBI and ED court have summoned Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy and others in the VANPIC case, i.e., asked them to appear before the court. All of them are scheduled to appear in court on September 22. The court has asked all the defendants to appear before the court. These include YSR Congress Chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy, Rajya Sabha member Vijaysai Reddy, Rajya Sabha MP Mopidevi Venkata Raman, MLA Dharmana Prasad Rao.

The court also summoned industrialists, Nimmagadda Prasad, and Nimmagadda Prakash. VANPIC Projects Pvt. Ltd., Jagati Prakashan Pvt. Ltd., Raghuram Cement Corporation Pvt. Ltd., and Bharti Cement Corporation Pvt. They have been charged under different sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act. The case is about the VANPIC project, whose promoter industrialist Nimmagadda Prasad allegedly invested Rs 854 crore in Jagan's companies. In return, the then-state government led by late YS Rajasekhara Reddy is said to have awarded the project contracts.

Between 2004 and 2009, Dharmana was the Revenue Minister in the then YSR Government. This was the time when the VANPIC project came into existence. It is alleged that while he was revenue minister in 2008-09, Dharmana Prasad Rao played a key role in fixing the lower market rate for land with the VANPIC project and worked together with another accused Nimmagadda Prasad.
