Varun is extremely close to his brother and he has spoken about the same at several interviews. During an interaction with a leading daily, VD had earlier said about how he is still the same at home after achieving success. He stated, "My house is run like that; it’s the same way it was. Yes, now I do a few things such as sending my parents for holiday or buying a car. But, I still don’t pay for small things and I still take money from Rohit. And he always gives me money."
In any event, Varun had said, "He is my brother and he is my hero in real life. I remember when Desi Boyz had released, I had been to every theatre to gauge the audience reaction and it's different from what my and father's films get. I can't put it into words how it feels when your own blood gives his life to make something special."
