Lucknow: BJP MP Varun Gandhi has once again strongly raised the demand of farmers. In a letter to UP CM Yogi Adityanath, he has demanded an increase in the price of sugarcane to Rs 400 per quintal, setting up more procurement centers for wheat and paddy, and reducing the price of electricity for farmers. Varun Gandhi has said that if the government takes these steps, it will strengthen the financial health of the farmers.

Earlier also, Varun Gandhi had raised the voice of farmers' rights and said that the government should start talks with farmers. Farmers have welcomed Varun Gandhi's letter. Varun Gandhi in the letter also praised the work being done by the UP Government and the Central Government for the farmers, but he has said that they should be done more in the changing times. He has said that if MGNREGA workers are allowed to engage in agricultural activities also, it will help in reducing the agricultural cost of farmers. This is the main demand of the farmers which the Government has not yet accepted.

Varun Gandhi has said that farmers in his parliamentary constituency have requested him to help him convey his point to CM Yogi Adityanath and that is what he is doing. He has written that the UP Government has increased the price of sugarcane by only Rs.10 per quintal in the last four years, while inflation has increased sharply during the same period. The prices of everything like electricity, water, diesel, seed, and manure have gone up. 400 per quintal keeping in view the interest of the farmers.
