Lucknow: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha MP Varun Gandhi is targeting his own party BJP these days over various issues. The latest case is over the banks' strike, in which Varun Gandhi has opposed the privatisation of banks. Varun had earlier taken a dig at the Centre and the UP government by tweeting on the farmers' issue. Varun had earlier also attended a protest demonstration by contract workers.

Millions of bankers had declared a nationwide strike against privatisation. In fact, during the budget session, the government talked about the disinvestment of 2 banks, which millions of bankers are opposing. In Bareilly, MP Varun Gandhi said, "If banks are privatised, 8-10 lakh people will lose their jobs. Most of these people will be 40-50 years old. Who will give them a job again? Who will raise their children? If BHEL, MTNL, BSNL and airports are sold, who will employ the children of the general public?''

Earlier last week, Varun Gandhi had said, "When we are privatising public sector banks, we should stop a little and note that these banks employ millions of people. Not only that, they help self-help groups, facilitate rural banking, lending to small and medium-sized industries. All these things may not be done by private or private banks.''
