Mumbai: In a latest announcement, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde revealed that the upcoming Versova-Bandra Sea Link will be named Veer Savarkar Setu. In addition, the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link will be renamed Atal Bihari Vajpayee Smruti Nhava Sheva Atal Setu. These decisions were made during a state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Moreover, the cabinet also decided to enhance the limit of the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yogana from Rs. 2 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh.

Chief Minister Shinde expressed, "We have also taken a significant step by increasing the limit of the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana to Rs. 5 lakh, which will benefit all residents of the state." This move is accompanied by the cabinet's approval of investment proposals worth Rs. 40,000 crore, expected to create 120,000 jobs and reinforce Maharashtra's position as the leading recipient of foreign direct investment.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde shared, "Today, we have sanctioned investment proposals worth Rs. 40,000 crore, which will generate employment for 120,000 individuals. Our state, Maharashtra, possesses immense potential, attracting numerous industries." This update comes on the heels of Maharashtra regaining its position as the top recipient of foreign direct investment.

The decision to rename the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link and the investment approvals were made on the occasion of the 140th birth anniversary of the Hindutva ideologue. Last month, Eknath Shinde had previously announced the renaming of the Versova-Bandra Sea Link after Savarkar. The upcoming Versova-Bandra Sea Link will connect Andheri to the Bandra-Worli Sea Link as part of the coastal road project. Construction of the sea link is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

The Bandra-Versova Sea Link, now known as the Swatantrya Veer Savarkar Sea Link, is currently under construction in Mumbai. Stretching over a distance of 17.17 kilometers (10.67 miles), this bridge will connect Versova, a neighborhood in the suburb of Andheri, to the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Bandra. With its eight lanes, the sea link aims to alleviate traffic congestion in the metropolitan city, particularly during peak hours.
