New Delhi: People suffering from recession are also plagued by inflation. Food prices continue to rise. On Thursday, the government released data on retail inflation and industrial output for July. In which there is a hope of no relief on the inflation front in August. Retail inflation stood at 3.21 percent in August. It was 3.15 percent in July.
Vegetable prices have been responsible for the rise in inflation. On a month-on-month basis, the inflation rate of vegetables has increased from 2.82 per cent to 6.90 per cent in July, while electricity and fuel inflation has been -1.7 per cent as against -0.36 per cent in July. Housing inflation declined to 4.84 per cent from 4.87 per cent in August.
At the same time, the retail inflation of food grains was 1.30 percent as against 1.31 percent in July. The retail inflation for footwear and clothing has come down from 6.65 per cent to 1.23 per cent. Inflation of pulses has increased to 6.94 percent from 6.82 percent in the previous month. Consumer, food price inflation has gone up from 2.6 percent in July to 2.99 percent. Industrial production rose to 4.3 per cent in July. It has been 131.1 in July.
