Hyderabad: On Monday, a man was arrested in a connection with the murder of a teenage girl whose body was found a day before. The accused was identified as Mohammad Akbar, a vegetable vendor.

Accused knew the 14 year-old-girl and influenced her to escape with him. When the teenager met Akbar carrying some jewellery and Rs 40,000 in cash, then Akbar took her to a remote area in Gandipet area and proceeds with sexual advances towards her which she rejected.

According to the police, "The accused then hit her on the forehead with a stone repeatedly. He also tied her hands with a piece of cloth and gagged her. The girl died on the spot and Akbar fled".

It was seen in the CCTV footage from the area, that the victim arrived at the spot with the accused on a black motor-bike. Further investigation is underway on the matter.
