New Delhi: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu is currently on a five-day tour of the African country of Sierra Leone. The Vice President addressed people of Indian origin during this period. External Affairs Ministry spokesman Ravish Kumar said in a tweet that while interacting with the people of the Indian community in Sierra Leone, Venkaiah Naidu emphasized on promoting bilateral relations and creating opportunities for the local economy and society. While travelling to African countries, Venkaiah Naidu said that whenever he is on a foreign tour, he tries to interact with people of Indian origin who are present there.

Along with this, he said that he is proud after meeting the Indian present here. He told that after meeting the people of Indian origin he shared his thoughts with them. During his speech, Vice President Naidu announced that an Indian High Commission would be opened in Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone.

He said that "I am happy to announce that we will soon open our High Commission in Freetown, which will further strengthen the existing bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as the needs of the Indian diaspora living in Sierra Leone. India is one of the most inclusive and tolerant democratic countries in the world, with the interest of all groups including minorities being taken care of with sympathy and appreciation".
