Veteran Akali Dal leader joins BJP, will Punjab get benefits in elections?

Amritsar: Assembly elections are proposed in Punjab next year. Earlier on Wednesday, the BJP gave a major blow to the Shiromani Akali Dal (Shi'ad). In fact, many Shi'ite leaders have taken over the reins of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Senior Akali Dal leader and General Secretary Ravipreet Singh Sidhu joined bjp in Delhi. Former Mansa seat MLA Jagdeep Singh has also taken over the BJP.

Bjp's Punjab Assembly elections in-charge and Union Water Power Minister Gajendra Shekhawat and BJP National General Secretary Dr Dushyant Gautam, two-time MLA and Shiromani Akali Dal Chief Parliamentary Secretary Jagdeep Singh Nakai, Shi'ite Youth Unit Treasurer young leader Ravipreet Singh Sidhu, MLA from Chamkaur Sahib seat and Bar Council President Shamsher Singh Rai and Saini Samaj State Vice President and Transport Union seven Harbhag Singh Desumajra, who was president for years, was inducted into the BJP.

Civic body member Nihal Singh Wala and former MP Sangrur Khalsi have also joined the BJP. In fact, the BJP in Punjab is struggling with opposition from farmers. After which the party is focusing on inducting Akali and Congress leaders into the party as part of its special strategy.
