Veteran singer G Anand passed away due to coronavirus infection

Telugu playback singer G Anand took last breath on Thursday evening due to Covid-19 infection. The 67-year-old made his singing debut in 1976 with the America Ammayi movie.

The singer hailed from the Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh. In America Ammayi film, he voiced the hit song “Oka Venuvu Vinipinchenu.” He has given many superhits including “Vithala Vithala Panduranga Vithala” and “Dikkulu Chudaku Ramayya”. G Anand established a musical band named Swaramadhuri which performed across the world. He also sang for Krishna-starred Pandanti Kapuram and Chiranjeevi’s Pranam Khareedu movies. As a music director, his credits include Gandhinagar Rendava Veedhi, Swathanthryaniki Oopiri Poyyandi, and Rangavalli. In the megastar Chiranjeevi’s first film he sang “Yeliyallo Yeliyallo” for Pranam Khareedu movie. After the news of his demise, Chiranjeevi mourns saying, “I am shocked to learn about the demise of Shri G Anand due to Covid-19. I have danced for the first time on the big screen for a song sung by him, and it has established an unconditional bond with him. His demise is a sad thing that stays with me for a long time. My condolences to his family.”

While, Telangana has reported 5,892 new Covid infections and 46 fatalities on Thursday, pushing the cumulative number of deaths to 2,626 and the total number of positive cases to 4,81,640. The number of active cases in the State is 73,851.
