New Delhi: Today is National Integration Day on 31st October. In fact, it was today that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the country's first home minister, was born. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has paid homage to the country's first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on National Integration Day today i.e. At the same time, he urged the people to take inspiration from Sardar Patel and work towards eliminating hunger, inequality, poverty and corruption in the country.

In fact, the Vice President's Secretariat quoted Naidu as saying, "Today, the country celebrates the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Ji as National Unity Day. Sardar Patel made it possible to merge more than 560 indigenous princely states with India, realized the dream of 'Ek Bharat,' it is the responsibility of every generation to make it the best India.'' Let us imbibe the ideals of Sardar Patel. At the same time, the Vice President also said, "Let us draw inspiration from this distinguished personality and work towards strengthening the unity, integrity and security of the nation.''

In his further statement, he also appealed to the people to eradicate hunger, inequality, poverty and corruption in the country. Let me tell all of you that today, on Sunday itself, the Vice President visited the Ram Mohan Library in Vijayawada and paid floral tributes to Sardar Patel, the country's First Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, on his birth anniversary. Besides Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Amit Shah, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind have also paid homage to the country's first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
