New Delhi: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed their condolences on Saturday for the deaths in a building fire in Tardeo, Mumbai.

Modi also promised a two-lakh-rupee payment to the next of kin of those killed and a fifty-thousand-rupee payment to the injured. At least six people were murdered and 23 others were injured in a fire that broke out this morning on the 19th floor of a Tardeo residential building.

The PMO stated in a tweet quoting Modi, "Saddened by the building fire at Tardeo in Mumbai. Condolences to the deceased families and prayers for a speedy recovery to the injured."

 "I am grieved to learn about the loss of lives in a fire mishap at Tardeo, Mumbai," Naidu remarked. My heartfelt sympathies to the grieving family. My thoughts and prayers go out to those who have been hurt."
