New Delhi: The country's courts are burdened with lawsuits. Because of this, the courts are not able to hear any case in time. Questions have been raised on this system from time to time. Vice President Venkaiah Naidu has expressed concern about this delay in the justice process. On this issue, he gave a suggestion that the Supreme Court should be divided. He said that four regional benches of the Supreme Court should be set up in the country for justice at low cost.

Speaking on the schedule of a book release, he said that constitutional cases and appeals should be viewed separately in the Supreme Court. Also, four benches should be created on the basis of area for quick disposal of cases in the Supreme Court. The Vice President said that there would be no need to amend the Constitution to take this step. He suggested that Article 130 of the Constitution be followed for this reformist step. Venkaiah Naidu said that according to this article, the Supreme Court can also sit in Delhi or any other place or places through appointments made from time to time with the approval of the President.

Apart from him, many former judges including Supreme Court Judge Justice RF Nariman, Attorney General KK Venugopal and Justice AR Dave were present in the program. Supporting the Law Commission's recommendation to divide the Supreme Court on the basis of hearing of the constitution bench and appeals, he also advocated for the Supreme Court to be divided on the basis of four regional benches. Significantly, the Supreme Court has rejected any such suggestion in the past.
