The 67th National Film Awards were held in Delhi on Monday. Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu appealed to the filmmakers to avoid showing violence and obscenity in films. Speaking at the 67th National Film Awards programme, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu said that the high objective of a film should be to promote social, moral and ethical messages.

According to the same online media reports, Venkaiah Naidu advised filmmakers that they should avoid exposing violence in movies and raise their voices through films against the social evils of society. He also revealed that a good film should have the power to touch the heart and mind. He also urged filmmakers and artists to use this medium for the betterment of society and the nation.

According to the report, he said that apart from entertainment, films also have the power to impart knowledge. Cinema should start with positivity and happiness and not be confined to plain entertainment. Filmmakers should also avoid the great culture, traditions, values and ethos of our grand civilization. Talking about India's soft power as the largest producer of films in the world, Venkaiah Naidu said that Indian cinema is seen all over the world. Films are one of our most prominent cultural exports and serve as an important link in connecting the global Indian community to its roots.
