Vicky Kaushal's father Sham Kaushal is a well-known action director of the film industry. You all know that he has been active in Bollywood for more than four decades. Now recently he spoke openly about this and told that he came to know about it in the year 2003. In fact, Sham Kaushal said that his condition was such that he did not know whether he would survive or not.

He said "I had returned after finishing the shooting of the film Lakshya in Ladakh. I was having stomach problems. The shooting of Shyam Benegal's Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was on and we were on a day off for Diwali. My stomach was aching a lot. The next day I reached Nanavati Hospital for a check-up. I got admitted and they operated on my stomach. Earlier, When I went to Nanavati Hospital with an appendix problem, the doctors knew about my problem.'' He further said, ''I had an infection in my stomach. The investigation revealed that there was cancer. I wasn't sure if I'd survive. I didn't tell anyone that. I was in the hospital for 50 days. Then I got back to work. They kept testing me for a year but thankfully cancer did not spread. It's been 19 years since that incident.'' At the same time, Sham Kaushal said that he used to think of suicide.

In fact, he said, 'I thought there was no chance of me surviving. I had decided to commit suicide by jumping from the third floor as I could not live like that but I could not get up from the bed as I had undergone an abdominal operation. Apart from this, Sham Kaushal said that when he was in the hospital, he got an offer for Anurag Kashyap's film 'Black Friday' but his health was not good, so he refused at first. At that time, Anurag said that he will shoot the film only when he returns. When he returned after 50 days, he worked with Anurag.
