" Video is cleared by Censor Board":Sona Mohapatra's lawyer

New Delhi, May 2 (NT): In a heated bid over the ongoing controversy on a music video of singer Sona Mohapatra, her lawyer said on Tuesday that the objections regarding the attire are unjustifiable as the video was certified by the Censor Board of Film Certification.

On April 30, the singer Sona Mohapatra alleged that she has been continuously receiving threats from a Sufi foundation for the video.

In a sequence of tweets to Mumbai Police, the singer urged Madariya Sufi Foundation has asked her to remove the video from all communication mediums as it has hurt the sentiments of Muslims and could spark communal tensions.

Sona Mohapatra’s lawyer, Henal Vakhari, also said the verse written by Amir Khusrao is already in public domain and the credit has been given to him for the lyrics.

As per the police complaint lodged against the foundation, Om Grown, a music company, had received a mail from Sufi Sameer Madhavi in this issue alleging that the "after watching the music album "Toori Surat" and "Lal Pari Mastani" which are running on YouTube Channel, the sentiments of millions of Muslims are hurt as the singer Ms. Sona Mohapatra is alleged to have unsuitable attire while singing Sufi songs written by Hazrat Amir Khusroo."
