New Delhi: A woman tried to go to a restaurant in the national capital Delhi wearing a sari and was not given an entry. In fact, the woman wore traditional Indian attire, so she was not allowed into the restaurant. A short video clip of the incident is also going viral on social media.
In the video, the woman asks the restaurant staff about the dress code and asks the restaurant employees to give it in writing that 'you write that there is no entry in the sari.' The woman can be clearly heard in this video that she asks the restaurant workers to 'show me that I am not allowed to come here wearing a sari.' In response, a female restaurant employee says that sarees do not come under the purview of smart casual dresses.
Who decides sari is not ‘smart wear’? I have worn sarees at the best restaurants in the US, UAE as well in UK. No one stopped me. And some Aquila Restaurant dictates a dress code in India and decides sari is not ‘smart enough’? Bizarre. pic.twitter.com/8c6Sj1RNha— Shefali Vaidya. ???????? (@ShefVaidya) September 22, 2021
