New Delhi: A woman tried to go to a restaurant in the national capital Delhi wearing a sari and was not given an entry. In fact, the woman wore traditional Indian attire, so she was not allowed into the restaurant. A short video clip of the incident is also going viral on social media.

In the video, the woman asks the restaurant staff about the dress code and asks the restaurant employees to give it in writing that 'you write that there is no entry in the sari.' The woman can be clearly heard in this video that she asks the restaurant workers to 'show me that I am not allowed to come here wearing a sari.' In response, a female restaurant employee says that sarees do not come under the purview of smart casual dresses.

The video was posted by Twitter user Shefali Vaidya. Posting this tweet, she captioned it as saying that 'Who decides sari is not 'smart wear?' I have worn sarees at the best restaurants in the US, UAE as well in the UK. No-one stopped me. And some Aquila Restaurant dictates a dress code in India and decides sari is not 'smart enough?' Bizarre.' After the video went viral, users on Twitter are giving various reactions to it and questions are being raised on the restaurant doing so. Several users have asked as to who will determine whether a sari is a smart wear or not, and how the restaurant can decide.
