About NEET Exam
NEET is the Medical Entrance Examination held all over India for the students who wish to pursue graduate & postgraduate medical courses (MBBS, BDS) in any government or private medical colleges. Candidates opting for undergraduate programmes apply for NEET-UG whereas for Post Graduate programmes they can apply for NEET-PG.
NEET 2018: Important Dates

NEET Exam Pattern
The NEET-UG 2018 exam will be conducted in an offline mode, it consists of total 180 questions, spread across four distinct subjects, which are Chemistry, Physics, Zoology, and Botany. Do not forget about the negative marking of -1 for every incorrect answer.
The total duration of the exam is 180 minutes or 3 hours in total. The questions will be asked in 8 languages, namely English, Tamil, Bengali, Hindi, Assamese, Telugu, Marathi, and Gujarati for convenience and ease of access for candidates nationwide. NEET Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must be aware of the eligibility criteria and must peruse the same before applying for the NEET-UG examination 2018.
Nationality
The candidate must be the legal citizen of India. Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) candidates are also eligible to apply for the examination, however, they must have passport documents.
NEET examination
Candidates from Jammu and Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana are only eligible for All India 15% quota, on the basis of self-declaration. Such candidates are also eligible for
admission to the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune, also on the basis of self-declaration.
Age Limit
The minimum age limit for candidates appearing for the NEET exam is 17 years as on or before 31st December of the year of admission. At the opposite end, the maximum age limit for the same is 25 years (for General and OBC candidates) and 30 years (for other categories). Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/University certificate will only be considered.
Qualification
All candidates should preferably have passed the 12th or equivalent examination, however, those appearing for 10+2 can also apply. They must have Physics, Chemistry and Biology/
Biotechnology (PCB) along with English as compulsory subjects in their 12th or equivalent examination. In their qualifying examination, i.e. the PCB group, students should have obtained at least 50% marks for general candidates, 45% marks for General-PH candidates, and 40% marks for SC/ST & OBC candidates. NEET Syllabus
The syllabus for the NEET-UG 2018 examination will be based on a common syllabus, as prescribed by the Medical Council of India (MCI). This syllabus shall be determined only after a review of various state syllabi along with the CBSE, National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), and the Council of Boards of School Education in India (COBSE) syllabi as well. As aforementioned in the Exam Pattern section before, the examination will comprise of topics from Chemistry, Physics, Zoology, and Botany, whereas the syllabus itself will be sourced from the 11th and 12th standards.
