Patna: The ruling NDA has won the election for speaker in Bihar assembly. MLA Vijay Kumar Sinha has become the Speaker of Bihar Legislative Assembly from Lakhisarai assembly seat. He has defeated Grand Alliance candidate Awadh Bihari. The entire voting process was completed amidst uproar by opposition leaders. 240 members participated in the voting process. Out of this 126 MLAs supported Vijay Kumar Sinha and 114 MLAs voted in favour of Awadh Bihari.
Protem Speaker Jeetan Ram Manjhi asked the people in favour of the first NDA candidate Vijay Kumar Sinha to raise their hands for the election of the Speaker, followed by Awadh Bihari MLAs. During this period, the number of MLAs of both parties was counted. During the voting, the opposition of CM Nitish Kumar, Minister Ashok Chaudhary, Minister Mukesh Sahni's presence continued to protest.
The opposition says that these leaders are not members of the assembly, so they have no right to stay in the house. The Protem Speaker refused this demand. He said that the CM is the Leader of the House, so his stay here is not illegal from anywhere. Protem speaker Jeetan Ram Manjhi reminded that Manmohan Singh was always present in the Lok Sabha as a member of the Rajya Sabha, but he was not involved in the election process. Similarly, while being Rabri Devi's CM in the Bihar Assembly, Lalu Prasad Yadav was present in the Bihar Legislative Assembly with him as a Member of Parliament.
