Team India has announced the squad for the World Cup 2019 and all-around Vijay Shankar has successfully made spot in the team. Shankar’s inclusion in the Indian team for the 2019 ICC World Cup became possible because of his 'Three Dimensional' qualities but not everyone is convinced of his abilities. While Shankar's all-round attributes helped the selection committee give him the nod for the No. 4 spot in the World Cup, former England star Kevin Pietersen said that he isn't convinced seeing Shankar's name for the crucial second down position.

Pietersen admitted that he isn't convinced of the former's quality for the World Cup. He said, “I haven’t seen enough of Vijay Shankar to warrant a No. 4 slot for India in the World Cup. I have seen some great players bat at No. 4 for India and sadly, Shankar seems far away from it. Batting at No. 4 is difficult and even more so in English conditions. It is almost like Shankar and Jadhav have made it to the India squad because they can bowl.
