Residents of Khursela village in Manpur in Rajnandgaon district have constructed a 3 km long road on their own by giving 'shramdan' (voluntary labour). The local people of this village said that they used to face problems during the rainy season and had also appealed to the administration many times, but no one came to help them.

In his statement, Meerabai Netam, a villager said that "We have appealed to the administration many times but nothing happened. So we decided to build the road ourselves. We have been doing this for the last 5 days. Another villager, Surju Tekam, said that especially girls were facing trouble to attend school during the rainy season."

He said that "we have appealed to MLAs, MPs and Panchayat officials. Last time the District Collector came here and did false promises. Especially girls were facing problems while going to school during the rainy season. Therefore, our Gram Sabha decided to build the road on our own and we did it".
