Every villager from Bomja turn 'Crorepati'

The villagers of a small village in Arunachal Pradesh named Bomja woke up to be crorepatis on Wednesday. A small ceremony was organized in the village to award the cheques to the head member of every family from the village by the Chief Minister Pema Khandu.

The villagers were awarded the cheques as a compensation for the land acquisition by the Government for defence purposes. Over 200 acres of land was acquired by the Ministry of Defence to set up key location posts for the purpose of spreading military presence there. This happened five years ago.  A total of 40.8 crores were distributed to 31 families who had given up their land. Out of it the family which gave a large plot of land was awarded a cheque of Rs. 6.73 crore followed by another family which received Rs. 2.45 crores. Rest of the families were given Rs. 1.09 crores each.

Ministry of defence paid Rs. 54 crores to 152 families last year. Post the ceremony, Chief Minister Pema Khandu informed that some more amount of money is under process by the Ministry Of Defence as a compensation for land acquisition. Bomja has now joined the league of richest villages in the country.
