In the Asian Championship, Indian woman wrestler Vinesh Phogat once again lost to Japanese wrestler Mayu Mukeda. She will now go for the bronze medal, on the other hand Sakshi Malik is just one step away from the gold medal.

Vinesh again lost to Japanese wrestler Mayu Mukeda to drop out of the gold race while Sakshi Malik remains in the title race by winning the semi-finals at the Asian Wrestling Championships on Friday. Vinesh had to face Mukeda twice (in World Championship and Asian Championship) in 2019. The same trend continued here and this Indian is again struggling to break the strong defense of the Japanese player. In the initial period, Vinesh tried to attack on foot several times, but each time Mukeda failed his efforts and dominated the domineering wrestler and won. In the last two encounters, Vinesh could not score a single point against the 2019 World Silver medalist, although this time she managed to score by dropping her but lost 2-6. Now Vinesh is going to be in front of Vietnam's Thi Kieu for bronze medal.

Now she will have to face Uzbekistan's Sevara Ashmuratova to win the bronze medal. Gursharanpreet Kaur is also in the race for bronze medal in the non-Olympic 72 kg category. She defeated Svetlana Oknazarova of Uzbekistan but was defeated by Jamila Bakbarzenova of Kazakhstan. She still made it to the semi-finals in which she lost to Mei Shindo of Japan. She will now be in front of Mongolia's Sevgamed Enkhbayar.
