Violence erupts in Bangladesh, over 20 police personnel injured

At least 26 policemen have been badly injured in an attack by supporters of the Muslim fundamentalist group Hifazat-e-Islam in Bangladesh. These supporters have targeted the Arul Police Camp on Saturday in Sarail Upazila of Brahmanpuria. In addition, a police station located at Bhanga in the Faridpur district was also attacked by miscreants. In Bangladesh, protests have been taking place against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to India in some other parts of the country, including the capital Dhaka, for the last few days. The attack on the Arul Police Camp took place at around 3.30 in the afternoon. The injured policemen also include Inspector (Investigation) Kabir Hussain of Sarail Police Station.

Protests started after thousands of Islamists led by Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen's supporters supported PM Narendra Modi's visit to Chattogram, Brahmanbadia, and other areas, including the capital Dhaka, on Friday afternoon prayers. A large number of police BGBs were deployed in the platoon, Gulistan Betul Mukarram Masjid areas even before they protested against them. Security was increased in the areas.

According to police locals, thousands of madrasa students took out a rally with local people in Arul Bazaar at 2 pm. Which was led by Maulana Abu Taher, Hussain Ahmed, Mahmudur Rashed Oliullah. Two police motorcycles were vandalized, including the main gate of the police station at Bhanga in the Faridpur district. Security measures have been beefed up by deploying BGB RAB along with police here.
