Violence erupted in Karnataka on Hanuman Jayanti, 100 accused arrested, CM Bommai warned

Bangalore: On the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti after Ramnavami, like other states including Uttarakhand, Delhi, Islamic fundamentalists had fiercely violence in Hubli, Karnataka too. After this violence on Sunday (April 17, 2022), the state police has taken major action against the rioters. In this case 100 accused including husband of AIMIM councilor have been arrested. Four policemen including an inspector were badly injured in the incident of violence.

In view of the situation after the violence, Section 144 was imposed in many places including Hubli Police Station area. Similar violence had erupted in Kolar district before Hubli. There was stone pelting in Mulbagal area during the procession of Ram Navami, after which tense situation prevailed there too. After the attack by a mob of Islamic fundamentalists at Hubli police station, the state CM Basavaraj Bommai had termed the incident as a completely well-planned conspiracy. While talking to the media, he gave a stern warning to the rioters and said that those who do this should not forget that the police will take strict action in such cases. Along with this, CM Bommai urged the people to exercise restraint and said that action will be taken against those who provoke.

In Hubballi, Karnataka, a crowd of fundamentalists gathered outside the police station demanding action against the person who posted a WhatsApp status. This frenzied mob suddenly turned to violence. The same mob first attacked the police station, injuring many by pelting stones at the policemen. Not only this, the violent mob also vandalized vehicles fiercely. In fact, according to local media, a young man had made his WhatsApp status by editing the picture of the mosque. In the edited poster, he wrote that, 'Lord Shri Ram was a great Hindu emperor.' Radical Muslims became furious as soon as this poster went viral. After this, they started pelting stones at the police station and the hospital, demanding action against the youth. However, the youth was also arrested.
