New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, called on all Indians to unite in order to secure a just and inclusive India, warning that hate and violence are undermining the country.
His comments come a day after communal confrontations erupted in Gujarat's Himmatnagar and Khambhat towns during Ram Navami processions, killing one person, as well as unrest on the JNU campus over the festival's offering of non-vegetarian food.
"Hatred, violence, and discrimination are eroding the foundations of our beloved country. The bricks of fraternity, peace, and harmony are laying the foundation for growth. Let us unite to ensure a just and inclusive India "Gandhi wrote on Twitter.
Two groups of students fought on Sunday in the Kaveri Hostel of Jawaharlal Nehru University, apparently over the provision of non-vegetarian food on Ram Navami in the mess. The violence resulted in the injuries of six students.
On social media, many reported videos of the violence surfaced, one of which showed a student bleeding from the head. Officials have not confirmed the videos' validity.
