Uttar Pradesh police on Monday averted a major accident when it chased down a bike that had caught fire in Etawah. A bag attached to the bike, which had three people on it, caught fire on a highway in Etawah. An Uttar Pradesh police van noticed the fire when the bike crossed the police car on a national highway.

The rescue operation was executed at around 6 pm by Dial 100 PRV 1617 squad, who were keeping a tab at traffic movement on Agra-Lucknow expressway. A video of the rescue operation shared by Dial 100 Twitter handle saw the cops chasing the bike and intercept it to douse the fire caused by the heated exhaust pipe of the bike. The policemen then helped douse the fire. None of the riders were hurt in the incident which otherwise could have spiraled into a fatal accident. Later on Monday afternoon, DGP UP police, O P Singh announced commendation disc to the team for the rescue operation.
