As the month of July arrives, everyone starts thinking about filing their income tax returns. The deadline to file income tax returns is July 31, 2024, and failing to do so will result in a penalty. However, the mere mention of income tax makes salaried individuals anxious, as they struggle to save taxes despite their best efforts.

Recently, a video from Karnataka has gone viral, showcasing a humorous way for salaried individuals to save 100% of their income tax. The video, although satirical, has resonated with many, who are sharing it widely on social media.

In the video, a person suggests a unique method to save income tax. He advises individuals to grow grass on their balcony or rooftop, which is completely legal. Then, they should ask their company's HR department to purchase the grass at a price equivalent to their salary. For instance, if someone earns a salary of ₹50,000, the company can buy 50 kg of grass at ₹1,000 per kilo, effectively reducing their salary to zero. Since agricultural income is tax-free, this method would help individuals save 100% of their income tax.

The video was shared by content creator Shrinidhi Hande on X (formerly Twitter). Although the method is humorous, people are sharing the video widely and commenting on it. One user wrote, "Wish it were this easy in real life." Another user commented, "The method is hilarious, but it's also very entertaining."

Other users have also shared their reactions, with some appreciating the creativity of the idea and others discussing the feasibility of implementing such a method.

While this video is not meant to be taken seriously, it highlights the struggles of salaried individuals in saving taxes. The deadline for filing income tax returns is approaching, and individuals are looking for ways to minimize their tax liability. Although this method is not a practical solution, it has brought a smile to many faces and sparked conversations about tax savings.
