The Afghan batsmen were chasing the target of 225 runs for India and Mohammad Shami, playing his first match in the tournament, tried to knock out his opener Hazratullah Zazi. However, the umpire did not respond to the LBW appeal. Kohli then asked for a DRS review, though it went in favour of Afghanistan. That's because the ball was pitched outside the leg stump line. While in the pitch map the ball was getting 50-50 percent inside-out view.

Glenn McGrath said this about Dhoni's future in cricket.

After the incident, Kohli began explaining to the umpire that the ball was inside the leg stump line, although the spectators felt that the captain of Team India was begging before him and that was because the captain would argue with the umpire before that. It was also seen and now this picture of his gesture has gone viral and has drawn everyone's attention.
