New Delhi: Indian batsman Rohit Sharma is in the spotlight these days due to his brilliant form. He left his talent mark by five centuries in the World Cup. However, Rohit is unable to repeat his performance in the Test as ODIs. Rohit Sharma is part of the Indian Test team on the West Indies tour and many legendary cricketers have demanded his opening. The veterans include former captain Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag and former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akht.
Sourav Ganguly, in his column in a newspaper, demanded Rohit Sharma to play as an opener. "Rohit Sharma was in excellent form at the World Cup. But his performance in South Africa and Australia has not been consistent. Rahane also failed to perform well in Australia. My advice is that Rohit Sharma should be given a chance to retain his form and include him as an opener.
Rahane should be placed in the middle order. Virender Sehwag also advocated the inclusion of Rohit Sharma in the playing XI. Virender Sehwag said Rahane at No. 5 and Hanu Vihari at No. 6 but I would like Rohit Sharma to play at No. 6 as he can make big shots. Former Pak bowler Shoaib Akhtar has also sought a chance for Rohit Sharma in the Test team.
