Visakhapatnam: On the occasion of the 90th birth anniversary of the Missile Man and former President of India, 'Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Prerna Sthal was inaugurated on Friday. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam's statue was unveiled by Dr. Sameer V Kamat, Distinguished Scientist and Director General (Naval Systems and Materials) in the presence of Dr. Y. Srinivasa Rao, Distinguished Scientist and Director, NSTL.

The event was graced by the presence of outstanding scientists PVS Ganesh Kumar, BVSS Krishna Kumar, Dr. A. Srinivas Kumar, other senior scientists, officers, members of NSTL Civil Employees Association and Working Committee, among others. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Y. Srinivas said that Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Prerna Sthal will provide inspiration to the NSTL fraternity as well as the general public. NSTL Director said that the life of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, his impeccable achievements as a scientist, and as President of the people of the nation will continue to inspire generations.

In his address, Dr. Sameer V Kamat said that Dr. Kalam has set an example that what one cannot achieve if one is determined and willing to work hard and has the ability to dream big. The Amrit Mahotsav of Independence is also celebrated on this occasion. As a part of this, DRDO and NSTL are taking various initiatives towards highlighting the importance of R&D, motivating the DRDO fraternity and raising awareness among the general public.
