Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam collector Vinay Chand recently talked about the crane accident at Hindustan Shipyard. He said that due to a malfunction in the construction of the crane, the crane at Hindustan Shipyard has fallen in an accident. Ten people were killed in a crane accident on the 1st of this month. At the same time, he also said that a committee was formed with five professors of Andhra University, Visakhapatnam RDO and R&BSE to investigate this accident. Apart from this, the committee has submitted a report on the accident in the shipyard on Wednesday.

The District Collector also said that in the report of the expert committee, it has been said that the negligence in the maintenance of the crane has been clear. Apart from this, minimum caution was not taken during the crane test of 70 tonnage and the carbon brushes of the crane fell. After being damaged, the insulator was replaced three times. At the same time, there was an oil leak in the gearbox during the last trial run. With this, the crane fell due to gearbox failure and the accident occurred only ten seconds. In this case, the crane structural designing and drawings were not examined with the third party.

In this regard, he said that there is a lot of work in the construction of cranes. The crane was not built to capacity. He also said that load testing should be done by an expert. Talking further about this, the Collector also said that experts suggested that the trial run should be done on behalf of the Third Party. If the company management has done negligence then action has been said about it.
