Varanasi: The town of Lord Shiva is famous for the aarti on the picturesque coast of the Varanasi Ganga. Tourists visiting this place definitely want to join it. It has also made its mark as Prime Minister Narendra Modi's parliamentary constituency. The Central Public Works Department (CPWD), which is the central government's premier construction agency, will install large LED screens for live telecast of 'Ganga Aarti' at all the ghats of Kashi and the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. According to the department, the lyde screen will be installed in the proposed corridor between the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and the river Ganga. According to the plan, aarti at the Kashi Vishwanath temple will also be telecast live on these LED screens.

According to an official, the cost of the project will be Rs 11.5 crore. The official said that a major event of Ganga Aarti is held at Dashashwamegh Ghat. "For those who are away from the ghats and cannot join the Ganga Aarti, the CPWD will install a lot of large LED screens in other ghats, Kashi Vishwanath Temple and the proposed corridor," the official said. He said all necessary equipments will be procured for live telecast of Ganga Aarti. As soon as the estimated cost is cleared, work on the project will start.

The official said that many tourists who come to Varanasi join Ganga Aarti and the installation of LED screens will enhance the beauty of the ghat. In December 2015, Modi accompanied his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe to the Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat. In September last year, Modi launched a Rs 550-crore project for his parliamentary constituency. Addressing the event, Modi had said that Kashi's efforts to preserve the traditions of Kashi and preserve their age-old heritage are to be changed. Kashi has its own importance in Hinduism.
