Brahmastra recorded a great opening with collections coming in the range of around ₹35-36 crore despite releasing on a non-holiday. This seems to beat the opening day figures of Ranbir's highest opening so far, Sanju, which collected ₹34.75 crores on the day. Meanwhile, Not only Kangana Ranaut but also Vivek Agnihotri thinks that this data is fake.
Taking to his Twitter handle, Kashmir files Director Vivek Agnihotri reacted to the report. He wrote, "Problem is everything runs on fakeness in Bollywood. And nobody is answerable. No industry can survive which invests 0% in R&D and wastes 70-80% money on stars.
Speaking about Brahmastra he said, “Brahmastra, do they even know the meaning of that? And then they are talking about Astra Verse, what is even that? Then you put your director, who can't even pronounce Brahmastra. He is a wonderful director. I loved his Wake Up Sid and the second film and I wish he made a wonderful film. I am concerned about him like a mother is concerned about their children. I am very disappointed.”
Brahmastra is directed by Ayan Mukherji has been in the making for a while now. Apart from Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor this movie also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy along with special appearances by Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone The film was made at a budget of Rs 410 crore, making it the most expensive film of Hindi cinema. Previously, this record was held by YRF’s Thugs of Hindostan which was made at around Rs 310 crore.
