Vizianagaram: Across the district, TDP leaders and workers staged a sit-in in every assembly constituency, demanding that the government support the farmers and not push them into problems. Leaders like Baby Nayana, T Lakshum Naidu, B Narsing Rao, IVP Raju, K Narsing Rao, Nagarjuna and K Appala Naidu along with TDP workers took part in protests in Bobbili, Vizianagaram, Chepurpally and Gajapatinagaram.

RVSKK Ranga Rao (Baby Nayana) said that due to the careless attitude of the state government, the cases of farmer suicides are increasing in the district. The farmers of paddy, cashew, coconut, sugarcane and mango were facing huge losses as they were not getting the minimum support price for their produce in the markets and finally they were selling the produce to middlemen at low prices.

The leaders involved in the dharna alleged that the government has completely ignored the farmers and they are forced to fall in the clutches of middlemen. TDP workers submitted memorandums to Tehsildars in various divisions. On Friday, several leaders and workers, including YSRCP MLA Jogi Ramesh, tried to gherao TDP chief Chandrababu's residence in Undavalli, Vijayawada. The reason for the tension was the remarks made by senior leader Ayyana Patrudu at the memorial service. In protest, YSRCP workers raised slogans and tried to surround Chandrababu Naidu's residence.
