Chennai: Former General Secretary of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) VK Sasikala may once again enter Tamil Nadu's Sahitya. He is also considered loyal to former late CM of the state J Jayalalithaa. A day before the party's 50th foundation day, Sasikala arrived at Jayalalithaa's memorial in Chennai to pay homage to her. Meanwhile, Sasikala was able to hold back her tears and get emotional.

Sasikala has reached Jayalalithaa's memorial for the first time after serving a four-year sentence in a disproportionate assets case. In March this year, she said she would keep a distance from politics and public life. Sasikala today reached the memorial of former party presidents J Jayalalithaa and MG Ramachandran and paid homage to her. AIADMK coordinator O Panneerselvam and Joint Coordinator Edapaddi's Palaniswami also paid floral tributes at the memorial between Jayalalithaa and former Chief Ministers CN Annadurai and MG Ramachandran's Marina.

The visit comes at a time when the AIADMK has suffered a setback a few days ago in the rural local body elections. The ruling DMK party has won elections in nine districts including Kanchipuram. AIADMK finished second. Out of a total of 153 Zilla Panchayat wards, DMK and AIADMK got 139 and two seats respectively.
