VMate, trending UGC short video app collaborated with city NGO- Chetna to bring a smile and spread happiness to street children under VMate’s #DonateASmile campaign.

Top VMate users from cities across India, who have huge fan following on the app, indulged in an afternoon of fun filled activities with 30 street kids being rehabilitated by Chetna. Top VMate user who goes by the name of Guruchela and has a fan following of over 2lakhs on the app is a cancer survivor himself. He showed magic tricks to the kids and inspired them to follow their passion and excel in their talents against all odds in life. “We often encounter fake people in our life. But these children are so innocent, and their emotions are heart touching. I really appreciate VMate’s efforts to bring a smile on these kids’ faces. I would request them to organize more such activities and I would definitely want to be a part of it”, says Guruchela.

Popular TV actress Khushi Dani whose fashion videos are a great hit on VMate played games with these children while another VMate user Khalid Fighter showed some stunts and taught self- defense techniques to the kids. Khalid is a mixed martial arts international champion from Afghanistan residing in India now. His fitness videos have earned him a huge fan following on the app too. “It is so gratifying to be able to inspire the future of the nation”, said Khalid.

Bhavna Srivastav who is a rural school teacher taught the kids some interesting drawings. Bhavna who is a language and science teacher rides 100km daily (from her hometown in Lucknow to a village and back) to teach kids. She found interacting with these kids an amazing experience. Bhavna says, “Although street kids do not have equal facilities of education and schools; however I am happily surprised to see that they are actually smarter and more active than privileged kids of smaller towns!”

This was a unique experience for kids, who were meeting social media influencers for the first time in their life. This was a source of inspiration for them and a good exposure to life outside their daily world.
