Kolkata: Polling is underway in 31 seats amid sporadic violence in West Bengal.  67.24 percent polling has been recorded till 3 pm. Meanwhile, veteran Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury's statement on EVM the TMC leader's house and getting VVPAT machine has surfaced. He has said that in West Bengal, the government arises in favor of the ruling party. That is why 34 percent of the voters could not vote in the last Panchayat elections. The ruling party had won 20,000 seats unopposed.

It may be recalled that EVMs were recovered from the house of a TMC leader. Taking the matter seriously, the Election Commission has suspended an officer. At the same time, the matter has also been clarified. The Commission says that EVM and VVPAT were of reserve quota which was kept aside. Earlier, there was a case of recovery of EVMs from the car of the BJP leader in Assam.

In the latest case, EVMs and VVPAT machines were found at the house of TMC leader in Uluberia, West Bengal. Election Commission officials said the sector officer has been suspended. He said it was a reserved EVM that has been separated from the election process. Strict action will be taken against all those involved.
