Lucknow: A priest of Banke Bihari temple in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, was severely beaten up by six other priests on Monday. He was severely assaulted, breaking the priest's tooth. The victim priest has lodged a police complaint in the case. Police are investigating the case. According to the report, Vrindavan Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Ajay Kaushal said one of the assault accused Shailendra along with five others beat up another priest Mohit.
He said that on the basis of the complaint of the victim priest, a case has been registered and an investigation has been started. Priest Mohit alleged that when he went to the temple to offer prayers, the accused asked him to leave the premises. With this said that the gates of the temple will not be opened. The victim priest said that his tooth was broken in the beating by six priests. The priest said that some devotees are being allowed to worship from the restricted enclosure by taking Rs 1,100 or more. Temple manager Munish Sharma said that the matter has been given to the Civil Judge (Junior Division).
He said the court has also been apprised of the incident. It was also reported that CCTV footage shows that the gates of the temple remained closed between 10:44 am and 11:01 am, while they should have remained open between 8 am and 1 pm. Meanwhile, police are currently investigating the entire case.
