Young Batsman Rishabh Pant is delivering consistent performance and impressing the audience but despite it, Pant wasn't included in the 15-member World Cup squad. Now, Former Indian cricketer turned commentator and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) mentor VVS Laxman lauded Pant for his brilliant performance in the tournament and called him a future of Indian Cricket.
Laxman wrote in his column for Times of India that Pant has showcased his ability with his blistering knock against SRH bowlers. He wrote that it was terrifying to see Rishabh take on the bowlers and he showed maturity as a batsman. He wrote, “The dangerous Rishabh Pant was still around, and he showcased his ability with a savage assault on Basil Thampi. As painful as it was to be at the receiving end, it was also exhilarating to see Rishabh take on the bowlers.
The veteran cricketer further wrote that Pant is clearly the future of Indian cricket, and it pleased me no end to witness the maturity he showed, though he will be disappointed that he wasn’t around to finish off the job.
Pant was brilliant since the beginning of the tournament as he smashed 35 boundaries and 25 sixes and scored 450 runs in 15 matches at an average of 32.14 and slammed 3 half-centuries for Capitals in the 12th edition.
