Thane, In a tragic incident, a common compound wall shared by two buildings collapsed due to heavy rains this morning, due to which at least nine cars parked inside a housing complex were crushed but no one was hurt in the incident.

"Due to heavy rains the compound wall between R-Mall and Runwal Estate came down, with the debris burying nine cars parked inside the housing complex", said Santosh Kadam, chief of Thane Regional Disaster Management Cell.

Men from Thane Fire Brigade and RDMC rushed to the scene and the debris was cleared immediately after the incident.

Incessant rains during last few days increases the water level in various lakes and reservoirs in the city.
