Jaipur: The Devastation Department of Rajasthan could not complete the journey by trapping the elderly in the air-travel jumble under the Free Senior Citizens Pilgrimage Scheme. It will be challenging for the department to complete the journey this year. In the financial year 2019-20, 5,000 elderly people will be taken on pilgrimage by rail and 5,000 others by air.

The then Vasundhara government had made a pilgrimage by train to the elderly people in the Senior Citizens Pilgrimage Scheme, dreaming of an airplane. As announced in fyrs 2018-19, 7,500 passengers were to be airlifted and 3,500 passengers were to be transported by train. Of these, only 3,293 passengers were airlifted. While 4,19 passengers were sent on pilgrimage instead of 3,500 by train.

The present Gehlot government has selected several new shrines to woo the elderly. Older people will also be able to travel abroad for the first time. Other pilgrimages, including Pashputinath, have been newly elected this time. The first where air travel included 6th circuit. It has been increased to 9. Two new circuits have also been added to the rail journey. These include Govardhan, Nandgaon, Barsana, Mathura, Vrindavan Circuit, Delhi Nizamuddin Dargah and Fatehpur Sikri, Agra Sheikh Salim Chishti Dargah. In addition, for the first time, devotees will be taken on a by-air tour to Kathmandu, Pashupatinath, Nepal. Applications for this trip have already begun.
