Kedarnath may re-enter major natural disaster, satellite reported

Dehradun: The entire Kedarnath Valley was devastated by the natural disaster that occurred in Kedarnath in 2013. About 5000 people were killed. Thousands of people were displaced. There was property damage of millions. Experts then described the devastation as the early monsoon and the melting of glaciers.

Six years after the devastation, water is being re-collecting in the Chorabari Lake in Kedarnath. This is the same lake that caused the catastrophe that came in 2013. Now it is beginning to collect water again. Satellite images have shown that the threat of 2013 devastation is coming to a close again. Some new pictures of the frozen Chorabari Lake show that water is gathering at many places two km above Kedarnath Dham and the number of water gatherings is increasing.

India today's Data Intelligence Unit (DIU) has identified four important water groups in these satellite images of Chorabari Lake. This photo is taken from Landsat 8 and Sentinel-2B satellite on June 26, 2019. These pictures show that the number of water groups has increased from two to four in the past month. Official sources said that the Uttarakhand government has started taking precautionary measures.
