St. John's (Antigua and Barbuda), Sept 11 (NT): one of the key accused Fugitive diamond merchant Mehul Choski, in the Rs 13,600 crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam on Tuesday said the charges against him are baseless.

Breaking his silence on the charges against him, He refuted all the allegations in a video statement to rounded by the leading news Agency ANI.

PNB Scam Prime accused said all the allegations against him slapped by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) are "false and baseless."

Defending himself, fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choksi on Tuesday said that ED has attacked on his properties illegally without there being any basis of the same. Choksi faced his first interview since the multi-crore rupee rip-off tumbled out.

 Worth mention here all questions by ANI to Choksi were asked by his lawyer in Antigua.

He was Prime accused in the over USD 2 billion Punjab National Bank scam along with his nephew Nirav Modi. Choksi is absconding and is at present in Antigua.

Choksi further asserted that he tried to cancel the suspension of his passport with the Indian authorities.

"The passport authorities revoked my passport altogether in view of which I was immobilize. On February 16, I received an email from the passport office which said that my passport has been suspended due to reasons of security threat to India. On February 20, I sent an email to the regional passport office, Mumbai, requesting them to revoke the suspension of my passport. However, I did not receive any reply from the regional passport office," he said as quoted by ANI.

Choksi further made allegations that he was not given a proper reason for the cancellation of his passport.
